Understanding the difference between canceling and deleting
Canceling a subscription and deleting an account are different actions inside AnswerThePublic.
Canceling stops future renewals while keeping access active until the end of the current billing cycle. Deleting permanently removes the account, subscription access, and associated data immediately.
This guide explains how both options work and how to manage them from your account settings.
How to cancel your subscription
You can cancel your subscription at any time from the Manage Account area inside AnswerThePublic.
To cancel your subscription:
- Open the top menu and select Manage Account
- Open the Subscription section
- Click Cancel Account
- Follow the confirmation steps shown on screen
During the cancellation process, you’ll see information about your remaining access period and scheduled cancellation date.
Once the cancellation is completed, you’ll receive a confirmation email confirming that future renewals have been stopped.
The same cancellation process applies to free trials, monthly plans, legacy lifetime, and yearly plans.
If you cancel a free trial before it ends, the subscription will not convert into a paid monthly plan.
What happens after canceling
After canceling, your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing cycle.
During this period, you’ll continue to have access to your paid features and subscription limits. Once the billing cycle ends, the account automatically transitions to a Free plan and no additional charges will occur.
Before the scheduled cancellation date, you’ll also see the option to reverse the cancellation.
Clicking Keep my Subscription reactivates the current subscription without additional charges and keeps the existing billing cycle unchanged:
How to permanently delete your account
If you want to permanently remove your AnswerThePublic account and data, you can do this from the Manage Account area.
To delete your account:
- Open the top menu and select Manage Account
- Scroll to the Users section
- Click Delete Account
- Follow the confirmation steps to permanently remove the account
Deleting an account immediately removes access to the subscription and permanently deletes associated account data.
Unlike canceling a subscription, account deletion does not keep the account active until the end of the billing cycle.
Once deletion is completed, the account, subscription access, and associated data cannot be recovered.
Note about multiple accounts
Some older AnswerThePublic accounts may display multiple accounts under the top menu, including Free and subscribed accounts associated with the same email address.
If this applies to your account, make sure you are canceling or deleting the correct account before confirming any changes.
Subscribed accounts will display their subscription status beside the account name, while Free accounts will appear without an active subscription label.
