This guide explains how payments, billing, and free trials work in AnswerThePublic.
You’ll learn which payment methods are supported, how to start a free trial, how to manage billing details, and what to do if a payment is declined.
Supported payment methods
AnswerThePublic currently supports the following payment methods:
- Credit and debit cards
- PayPal
- Google Pay
- Apple Pay (available for iOS users through Safari)
Payment availability may vary depending on your device, browser, or region.
After subscribing, billing information can be managed directly from the Manage Account section.
Starting a free trial
AnswerThePublic offers a one-time 7-day free trial on monthly plans, allowing you to explore premium features before starting a paid subscription.
The free trial gives you full access to AnswerThePublic features, including complete keyword reports, visualizations and exports, filters, content generation, and publishing integration.
To start a free trial, go to the Pricing page and switch the billing option to Monthly plans. The free trial option only appears for eligible monthly subscriptions.
The free trial is a one-time offer per account.
If your account has not used a free trial before, the Pricing page will display the Start My Free Trial option.
If the trial has already been used previously, the Pricing page will instead display the Sign In and Select option, and the subscription will begin immediately after checkout.
After selecting a plan, you’ll be asked to add a valid payment method to activate the subscription or trial.
You will not be charged during the 7-day trial period. However, the subscription converts automatically into a paid monthly subscription unless canceled before the trial ends.
When the trial is activated, you’ll receive a confirmation email showing:
- The exact date and time the trial ends
- The subscription details
- The amount that will be charged after the trial
The trial expiration time is displayed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), so it’s important to consider your local time zone when managing cancellation timing.
Here’s how to cancel your subscription.
Managing billing and payment details
Billing and subscription settings can be managed directly from the Manage Account area.
From there, you can:
- Update payment methods
- Review subscription status
- Download invoices
- Update billing addresses
- Add or update VAT and tax information
- Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription
If your billing details change, future invoices will reflect the updated information.
Check the details on Managing Your AnswerThePublic Account.
Why payments may be declined
Payment declines usually happen because the bank or payment provider blocks or rejects the transaction.
Some of the most common reasons include:
- Insufficient funds
- Incorrect card information
- Expired cards
- Fraud or security restrictions
- International payment restrictions
- Transaction limits set by the bank
- Unsupported card types
In some cases, an expired checkout session may also interrupt the payment process.
If a payment is declined, first confirm that your card details, billing address, and available funds are correct. If the issue continues, contact your bank or payment provider to verify whether the transaction was blocked for security reasons.
You can also try an alternative payment method such as PayPal, Google Pay, or Apple Pay when available.
Regional banking restrictions
Some regions may have additional banking or recurring payment authorization rules that can make subscription payments more difficult for certain customers.
In these situations, recurring payments may require extra approval steps from the bank before the transaction can be completed successfully.
If you continue experiencing payment issues, contact our support team through the Help button inside AnswerThePublic and we’ll help you find a solution as quickly as possible.
Refunds and cancellations
AnswerThePublic subscriptions are non-refundable, as described in our Terms of Service.
If you do not want to continue after a free trial, make sure to cancel the subscription before the trial ends to avoid renewal charges.
After cancellation, the subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period.
If you believe you were charged incorrectly or have questions about your billing status, contact our support team through the Help button and we’ll review your account.
